St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, affectionately called Scots Kirk, is a captivating landmark in the heart of St. George's, Grenada. Founded to serve the growing Presbyterian population, particularly Scottish immigrants, the church stands as a testament to Grenada's rich heritage. While some sources state the church was founded in 1830 , others trace its origins to the late 1700s with the arrival of Scottish settlers. Services began in the Courthouse in January 1810, and the foundation stone was laid in August of the same year.The church's architecture is reminiscent of traditional Scottish design, featuring a distinctive steeple and stained-glass windows that create a serene and beautiful space for contemplation. Inside, the soft glow of candlelight and the gentle sounds of hymns create a peaceful atmosphere.Throughout its history, St. Andrew's has been more than just a place of worship; it's been a hub for community engagement. Though St. Andrew's Kirk suffered damage from Hurricane Ivan in 2004, its iconic clock tower still stands as a beacon overlooking the cruise terminal.
