Discover more about Chamorro Night Market

The Chamorro Village Night Market is a weekly Wednesday evening event in Hagåtña, Guam, that celebrates the island's unique Chamorro culture. The market, which began in April 1998, transforms the village into a lively hub of food, crafts, and entertainment, drawing both locals and tourists. As you stroll through the Spanish-influenced buildings, the aroma of barbecue fills the air, leading you to a central court where people of all ages dance the night away. You'll find farmers displaying local produce, and local dance groups entertaining the crowds. Fresh fruit juices are also available. The market offers a wide array of street foods, from traditional Chamorro dishes to international favorites. Some popular Chamorro foods include red rice, hot sauce, and kelaguen. You can also find handmade crafts, traditional artwork, and souvenirs. The Chamorro Village itself has a rich history, evolving from the Guam Farmers Market in the 1960s and 70s to the Guam Public Market after Typhoon Pamela in 1976. In 1978, it became the Chamorro Village, and after typhoons and fires destroyed temporary structures, a permanent facility was constructed, opening in 1994. Today, the Chamorro Village aims to encourage and support local entrepreneurs and showcase Guam's culture and traditions.
