The San Antonio Bridge, also called Tollai Acho' (meaning 'stone bridge' in Chamorro), stands as a proud reminder of Guam's Spanish colonial era. Constructed in 1800 during the administration of Governor Manuel Muro, the bridge was dedicated to San Antonio de Padua, whose image was carved into a keystone. This keystone remains on the bridge today. Originally, the bridge spanned the Hagåtña River, connecting the districts of San Ignacio and Bilibic. However, the river's course was altered after World War II during the reconstruction of Hagåtña. Today, the bridge is the centerpiece of Sirena Park, named after a Chamorro legend about a girl transformed into a mermaid. A bronze statue of Sirena, the mermaid, is located on the south side of the bridge. The bridge suffered damage during World War II and was restored in 1966 with concrete. The San Antonio Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Sites on September 6, 1974. The bridge is located along Marine Corps Drive. Adjacent to the bridge is a statue of Don Pedro Pengelinan Martinez, a prominent businessman.
