Discover more about Fish Eye Underwater Observatory

The Fish Eye Underwater Observatory offers a unique opportunity to explore Guam's underwater world. Located in the Piti Bay Marine Preserve, the observatory is accessed via a 900-foot (300m) ocean bridge, providing scenic views of the bay. The Piti Bay area is also known as the 'Piti Bomb Hole' because bombs were dropped on the coral reefs surrounding the village of Piti during World War II. Descend a spiral staircase (72 steps) to the underwater viewing deck, or enjoy a live video feed from the upper deck. The submerged chamber features 24 windows (16 rectangular and 8 round) offering a 360-degree view of the surrounding marine environment at a depth of approximately 20 feet (6m). Here, you can observe over 200 species of tropical fish and 80 varieties of coral in their natural habitat. Keep an eye out for the occasional barracuda, and the less common sightings of black tip sharks and turtles. The observatory is located in the Piti Bomb Holes Marine Preserve, a protected area established in 1999 that is known for its ecological diversity. The 'bomb holes' themselves are natural percolation pits where fresh water filters into the lagoon. The largest of these pits houses the Fish Eye Marine Park. Beyond the underwater observatory, Fish Eye Marine Park offers other activities, including dolphin watching tours, snorkeling, and a cultural dinner show.
