Getting There

Walking

From the Plaza de España in central Hagåtña, head north on Chalan Santo Papa Juan Pablo II. Turn right onto Fort Court and continue uphill. The walk is approximately 0.3 miles and should take about 5-10 minutes. There are no entrance fees for the fort.

Named in honor of Governor Manuel Muro's wife, María Agueda del Camino, the fort was built using 'mampostería,' a construction technique involving coral stone and lime mortar.While initially equipped with embrasures for ten cannons, the fort saw limited action. Over the years, it served various purposes, including a signal station for American ships and a gun emplacement during the Japanese occupation in World War II. Today, all that remains is a raised viewing platform, offering unobstructed views of Guam's western coast.
