Sella Bay Overlook is a captivating observation deck on Guam's southern coast, offering breathtaking views of Sella Bay and the surrounding landscape. From this vantage point, visitors can gaze out over the shimmering turquoise waters, verdant hills, and the tranquil expanse of the Pacific Ocean. The overlook is easily accessible and provides a perfect stop for those exploring the island.The area is known for its rich cultural history. What is known today as Sella Bay was a village known as Sidya prior to Spanish colonization. During the Spanish-Chamorro Wars in the 17th century, Sidya sided with the Spanish against its neighbor Aty, which was located where Cetti Bay is today. One of the lasting remnants of that era is a Spanish bridge that still stands near Sella Bay.Visitors are drawn to the nearby Sella Bay Trail, which descends through trees to a stream. The trail then cuts across meadows with views of the coast and palm groves. The hike is moderately difficult and can be completed in under three hours. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water. The best time to visit is during the early morning or late afternoon when the sunlight casts a magical glow over the bay.

    Getting There

    Car

    From a central location in Northern Guam, such as Tumon, head south on Route 1 (Marine Corps Drive) for approximately 25 miles. Turn right onto Route 2 towards Humåtak and continue for about 5 miles, then turn left onto Sella Bay Road. Follow this road to the Sella Bay Overlook. Parking is available at the overlook. Expect the drive to take approximately 45 minutes to an hour. There are no tolls on this route.

    From major areas like Tumon or Hagatna, take the Guam Bus (Route 19) towards Humåtak. Check the latest bus schedule, as services may vary. From the bus stop in Humåtak, it's approximately a 2-mile walk to Sella Bay Overlook. Alternatively, from the bus stop, you can find a taxi. Bus fare is $1.00 per ride, or $3.00 for a day pass. A taxi from Humåtak to Sella Bay Overlook will cost approximately $10-$15.
