The Guam Museum, officially named the Senator Antonio M. Palomo Guam Museum & Chamorro Educational Facility, offers a deep dive into the history and culture of Guam and its indigenous Chamorro people. Established in 2016, though envisioned decades earlier, the museum provides a modern space for preserving and showcasing the island's heritage. The museum's architecture itself is a cultural symbol, designed with a canopy resembling a Chamorro sling stone, representing the island's history and strength. Inside, visitors can explore the permanent exhibit, "I Hinanao-ta Nu Manaotao Tåno'-I CHamoru Siha: The Journey of the CHamoru People," which guides them through 3,500 years of Guam's history. The exhibit features over 300 artifacts, thousands of images, and multimedia presentations, with descriptive panels in both English and Chamorro. QR codes provide translations in Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and Korean, making the museum accessible to a wide range of visitors. The museum's exhibits cover various aspects of Chamorro culture, from ancient tools and traditional crafts to the impact of World War II and contemporary art. Interactive displays and state-of-the-art technology enhance the learning experience, making it engaging for all ages.
