Getting There

  • Driving

    From central Tumon Bay, drive north on Route 1. Turn right onto Gun Beach Road (14A) and follow it to the parking area. Parking is free. Limited spaces are available, with additional street parking nearby.

  • Public Transport

    Take the Tumon Beach Shuttle or a local bus along Tumon Bay. Ask the driver to stop near the intersection of Route 1 and 14A. From there, walk 5-10 minutes to the beach. A bus ride is around $2.

  • Walking

    From hotels along Tumon Bay, walk north towards Route 1. Follow the road towards the Tamuning area. The walk is approximately 20-30 minutes. Look for signs indicating Gun Beach.

Gun Beach, or Gongna Beach, is a captivating destination on Guam's western coast, offering a blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue. The beach is named for the remnants of Japanese gun emplacements from World War II, offering a glimpse into the island's past. The clear, calm waters make Gun Beach a favorite for snorkeling. The outer reef, about 60 meters from the shore, teems with diverse marine life, including colorful fish, coral, and the occasional blacktip shark. Snorkelers can enter the water anywhere along the beach, but it's best to enter near the channel for easier access to the outer reef.
