Walking
The San José Cathedral is located on 5a Calle Oriente 5, in front of the Central Plaza in Antigua. From anywhere in central Antigua, the cathedral is easily accessible on foot due to the city's grid layout and its prominent location. Walking from the Santa Catalina Arch, head south on 5a Avenida Norte, then turn east onto 5a Calle Oriente. The cathedral will be on your left. Walking is the best way to explore Antigua's historical center.

Tuk-tuks are readily available throughout Antigua and offer a quick way to reach the cathedral from locations further from the center. Negotiate the fare before starting your ride; a typical fare from one side of the city center to the other should be around Q15-Q20. From the Iglesia de la Merced, a tuk-tuk ride to the cathedral should take about 5 minutes.
