Volcán Acatenango, towering at 3,976 meters (13,045 feet), is the third-highest volcano in Guatemala and a popular destination for adventurous travelers. Located near Antigua, it's part of the Sierra Madre mountain range and is joined with Volcán de Fuego, collectively known as La Horqueta.Acatenango's history includes explosive eruptions in prehistoric times, shaping the landscape with ash, pyroclastic flows, and lava.
