Car
If you are traveling by car within the Bafatá Region, head towards the town of Bafatá. From Bafatá, take the road leading to the town of Contuboel. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will encounter a fork; take the left road heading towards the river. Continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach the Geba River. There may be some unpaved sections, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.
Public Transportation
To use public transport, start from Bafatá and take a shared taxi (known locally as 'taxi-brousse') heading towards Contuboel. The fare is typically around 500 CFA Francs. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the fork that leads to Geba River. Once you reach the fork, you may need to walk approximately 10 kilometers, or you could try to find a motorcycle taxi (also known locally as 'mototaxi') to take you closer to the river for an additional cost of around 1000 CFA Francs.
Walking
If you are starting your journey on foot from Bafatá, head towards Contuboel by following the main road. This is a longer journey of approximately 40 kilometers, which could take a full day of walking. Be prepared with water and supplies. Once you reach the fork, take the left road leading to the Geba River, which is about another 10 kilometers.
Use Geba River as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
