Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car, head towards the Kurupukari Crossing on the Essequibo River. From the Pakaraima Mountains, take the road leading to the town of Lethem. Once you reach Lethem, continue on the road that leads to the Kurupukari Crossing. The lodge is located just a few kilometers from the crossing. Make sure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain, as some parts of the road may be unpaved. Parking is available at the lodge.

Public Transportation

For those relying on public transportation, take a minibus or hire a taxi from Lethem to the Kurupukari Crossing. Buses frequently depart from Lethem and the fare is typically around GYD 1,000 to 1,500 per person. Once you arrive at the Kurupukari Crossing, you may need to walk a short distance or hire a local taxi to take you directly to Iwokrama River Lodge.

Boat

In addition to road travel, you can also consider taking a boat across the Essequibo River if you are coming from the opposite bank. Local boat services operate between regions near Kurupukari. The cost for a boat ride is generally around GYD 500 to 1,000 per person. Make sure to check the boat schedule in advance as it may vary.
