Car
If you are driving from Lethem, head northeast on the Lethem-Annai road (also known as the Rupununi Road). Continue for approximately 90 kilometers (about 56 miles) until you reach the junction at Annai. Here, you will want to take a right turn onto the road leading to the Iwokrama Forest. Follow this road for about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) until you arrive at the Iwokrama Forest entrance. Please note that the road can be bumpy, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.
Public Transportation
From Lethem, take a minibus heading to Annai. The fare is usually around GYD 1,000-1,500 (approximately USD 5-7). Once you arrive in Annai, you can either wait for a taxi or arrange for a local driver to take you the additional 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) to the Iwokrama Forest entrance. Expect to pay around GYD 2,000-3,000 (about USD 10-15) for this leg of the journey.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct option, you can hire a taxi from Lethem to Iwokrama Forest. The journey is roughly 120 kilometers (75 miles) and can take about 2.5 to 3 hours. Taxi fares may vary, but you should expect to pay around GYD 15,000-20,000 (approximately USD 75-100). It's advisable to negotiate the fare before starting the journey.
