Walking
To reach West End from any accommodation in Utila, start by heading towards the main road (Calle Principal). If you're near the Utila Dive Center, walk straight down Calle Principal until you reach the fork. Take the left fork which leads you directly towards the coast. Continue walking until you see signs for West End. This area is well-marked, and you’ll eventually follow the path that curves around the shoreline. The walk should take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on your starting point.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer a quicker option, consider renting a bicycle. From the center of Utila, head towards the main road (Calle Principal) and locate one of the many bicycle rental shops. Once you have a bike, follow the same route as if you were walking: ride straight down Calle Principal, take the left fork at the coast, and follow the shoreline path to West End. The bike ride should take around 10-15 minutes.
Water Taxi
For a scenic route to West End, you can take a water taxi. Head towards the Utila town dock, which is located near the center of the island. Check for water taxis heading to West End; they typically leave throughout the day. Once you board, enjoy the short boat ride which should take approximately 10 minutes, offering beautiful views of the coastline. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at West End.
Golf Cart Taxi
If you prefer a more comfortable ride, look for golf cart taxis which are a common mode of transport in Utila. You can find them around the town center. Simply tell the driver you want to go to West End. The taxi will take you directly there, and the ride generally takes around 10 minutes depending on traffic.
