Getting There

  • Public Transport

    If you're starting your journey from the city center, head to Deák Ferenc tér metro station. Take Metro Line 1 (yellow line) towards Vörösmarty tér for one stop, then transfer to Metro Line 2 (red line) towards Déli pályaudvar. Get off at the Déli pályaudvar station. From there, exit the station and walk towards the street called Krisztina körút. Turn left and walk until you reach the end of the street, where you will find the entrance to the Buda Castle area.

    After entering the Buda Castle area, follow the signs to the Fisherman's Bastion. Continue walking up the hill towards Szent György tér. Once you reach Szent György tér, head towards the main courtyard of the Buda Castle. The Statue of the Independence War is located near the entrance of the castle grounds, close to the Matthias Church. Look for a large statue that depicts a soldier, which is hard to miss.
