Experience Vajdahunyad Castle

Getting There

  • Tram

    From the Inner City, head to the nearest tram stop that services Tram Line 4 or 6. You can catch either tram at stops such as Deák Ferenc tér, which is a central hub. Board the tram heading in the direction of either Széll Kálmán tér (for Tram 4) or Móricz Zsigmond körtér (for Tram 6). Stay on the tram for approximately 10-15 minutes and get off at the 'Vajdahunyad vár' stop. From the tram stop, you will see the entrance to Vajdahunyad Castle just a short walk away.

  • Bus

    Another option is to take Bus 30, 30A, or 105 from the Inner City. You can catch these buses from major stops such as Kálvin tér or Astoria. Board the bus and travel towards the 'Vajdahunyad vár' stop. The bus ride will take around 20 minutes. After disembarking, follow the signs leading to the castle; it is a brief walk from the bus stop.

  • Walking

    If you prefer to walk, you can stroll through the picturesque streets of Budapest. From Deák Ferenc tér, head northwest along Király utca until you reach Andrássy út. Turn left onto Andrássy út and continue walking until you reach the City Park (Városliget). Enter the park, and you will find Vajdahunyad Castle located within. The total walking distance is approximately 3 km and will take about 35-40 minutes.

    You can also use the metro system. From Deák Ferenc tér, take the M1 (Yellow Line) towards Mexikói út. Travel for three stops and get off at 'Hősök tere' (Heroes' Square). From there, it is a 10-minute walk through the City Park to reach Vajdahunyad Castle. Just head towards the park, and the castle will be visible as you approach.
