If you are driving from the East Fjords region, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) towards Höfn. The drive from Egilsstaðir to Jökulsárlón takes approximately 3.5 hours (about 250 km). As you approach Höfn, look for signs for Jökulsárlón. Take the turnoff at Route 998 toward Jökulsárlón. Follow this road for about 7 km until you reach the Glacier Lagoon. There is ample parking available at the lagoon.

To reach Jökulsárlón by public transport, you can take a bus from Egilsstaðir to Höfn. The bus company Strætó operates routes that connect these towns. From Höfn, you will need to arrange a taxi or a shuttle service to the lagoon, as there is no direct public transport from Höfn to Jökulsárlón. The bus ride from Egilsstaðir to Höfn takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. Expect to pay around ISK 2,200-3,000 for the bus fare. Taxis from Höfn to Jökulsárlón may cost around ISK 10,000-15,000 one way.
