Car
If you are driving from Egilsstaðir, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) towards Reyðarfjörður. After about 40 km, take a left turn onto Route 92 towards Bakkagerði. Continue on Route 92 for approximately 20 km until you reach Bakkagerði. Follow signs for Borgarfjarðarhöfn, which is located at G6RW+V55. The final stretch will take you through the scenic coastal landscape.
Public Transportation
To reach Borgarfjarðarhöfn by public transport, take a bus from Egilsstaðir to Bakkagerði. The bus service is operated by Strætó and you can check their schedule online. Once you arrive in Bakkagerði, you may need to walk approximately 1 km to Borgarfjarðarhöfn (G6RW+V55). Be sure to check the last bus times to ensure you have a return option.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from Egilsstaðir to Borgarfjarðarhöfn. This option may be more expensive, typically costing between ISK 15,000 and ISK 20,000, depending on the taxi company and exact distance. It is a convenient way to reach your destination without the hassle of public transportation.
