If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest town in Eastern Region, such as Egilsstaðir. Head south on Route 1 (the Ring Road) towards Höfn. Continue on Route 1 for about 240 km (approximately 3 hours) until you reach the junction for Route 998. Turn right onto Route 998 and follow the signs for Breiðamerkursandur. Continue for about 15 km until you arrive at the parking area near the beach.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, take a bus from Egilsstaðir to Höfn. Check with local bus services for the latest schedules, as they may vary. Once you arrive in Höfn, you will need to take a taxi or arrange for a shuttle service to Breiðamerkursandur, as public transport options to this specific location may be limited. The taxi ride from Höfn to Breiðamerkursandur will take about 30 minutes and cost approximately 10,000 ISK.
Walking
