If you are traveling by car, make your way towards Thingvellir from your current location in Eastern Region. Hestagjá is located about 50 km from the nearest major town, Selfoss. Take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading west from Selfoss. After approximately 35 km, take the exit towards Route 36 (Þingvallavegur) towards Þingvellir National Park. Continue on Route 36 for about 15 km, following the signs for Þingvellir. When you reach the park entrance, you may need to pay a parking fee of around 600 ISK. After parking, walk towards the marked trails leading to Hestagjá, which is about a 20-minute walk from the parking area.
