If you are traveling by car from the town of Egilsstaðir, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading west. Continue on Route 1 for approximately 250 kilometers (around 3 hours). As you approach Skaftafell, look for the signs directing you towards Skaftafell National Park. The entrance to the park is well-marked, and there is a parking area available for visitors. Note that there is a parking fee of approximately 1,500 ISK for a day of parking.

To reach Skaftafell using public transportation, take a bus from Egilsstaðir to Höfn. From Höfn, you can catch a local bus to Skaftafell. The bus service is operated by Strætó and runs several times a day, but be sure to check the timetable in advance as it can vary. The total journey may take around 5-6 hours, and the fare will be approximately 4,000 ISK from Egilsstaðir to Höfn and an additional 1,500 ISK from Höfn to Skaftafell.
