Getting There

    From the center of Hveragerdi, start by heading northeast on the main street, Þjóðvegur 1. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the road leading to Seltjarnarnes. At this point, you will see signs directing you towards Seltjarnarnes. Turn left and continue for another 10 kilometers, passing through scenic landscapes. Once you arrive in Seltjarnarnes, look for signs directing you to Grótta Island Lighthouse, which is located on the western coast. The lighthouse is situated on a small peninsula, and you may need to walk a short distance from the parking area to reach the actual lighthouse.

    From Hveragerdi, walk to the nearest bus stop on Þjóðvegur 1. Take the bus towards Reykjavík, and make sure to check the schedule for bus number 51, which operates towards Seltjarnarnes. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Seltjarnarnes bus stop, exit the bus and walk west towards the coast. Follow the signs to Grótta Island Lighthouse, which will be about 1 kilometer away from the bus stop. You will walk along the scenic coastal path to reach the lighthouse.
