Walking
Once you are in Landmannalaugar, start at the main parking area, where the visitors' center is located. From here, head towards the hiking trails that lead to Rauðauga. The path is marked, and you will see signs indicating the direction to Rauðauga. Follow the scenic route, which will take approximately 30-45 minutes of walking. Be sure to enjoy the stunning landscapes along the way.
Car
If you are driving, make sure you have a 4x4 vehicle as the roads leading to Landmannalaugar can be rough. Drive towards the main parking area in Landmannalaugar. Once parked, you'll need to continue by foot as there are no roads directly leading to Rauðauga. The hiking path begins near the visitors' center.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Reykjavík to Landmannalaugar. The bus service operates during the summer months, typically from June to September. Once you arrive at the Landmannalaugar bus stop, follow the same walking directions as above to reach Rauðauga. The hike will take about 30-45 minutes from the bus stop.
