Car
From Reykjavik, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading east. After approximately 130 km, turn onto Route 30 towards Hella. Continue on Route 30 for about 30 km, then take Route 32 towards Þjórsárdalur. Drive for around 40 km until you reach the junction with Route 35. Turn onto Route 35 and follow it for another 25 km until you arrive at the parking area for Fimmvörðuháls. From here, you will need to hike approximately 10 km to reach Bridge Falls, which is located along the hiking trail.
Public Transportation
To reach Bridge Falls using public transport, take a bus from Reykjavik to Hella. From Hella, you will need to transfer to a local bus service that operates to Þjórsárdalur, where you can get off at the Fimmvörðuháls hiking trailhead. Please check the local bus schedules in advance as they may vary. Once you arrive at the trailhead, you will need to hike approximately 10 km to reach Bridge Falls.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the Fimmvörðuháls trailhead by either car or bus, you will embark on a hiking trail that leads to Bridge Falls. The hike is roughly 10 km one way and typically takes around 3-4 hours depending on your pace. The trail is well-marked and offers stunning views along the way. Be sure to carry ample water, snacks, and appropriate hiking gear.
