If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Akureyri, which is approximately 100 km away from Ásbyrgi. Take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading east. After about 70 km, you will reach the town of Húsavík. Continue on Route 1 for another 30 km until you see the signs for Ásbyrgi. Turn right onto Route 862 and follow the signs for Ásbyrgi. The total drive takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Parking is available at the Ásbyrgi Visitor Center.

To reach Ásbyrgi using public transportation, you can take a bus from Akureyri to Húsavík. The bus company Strætó operates regular services along this route. Make sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as there may be limited services. Once in Húsavík, you can catch a local bus or taxi to Ásbyrgi. The bus ride from Akureyri to Húsavík takes approximately 1.5 hours, and then it will take about 30 minutes to reach Ásbyrgi from Húsavík. Be aware that bus tickets may cost around 2,500 ISK for the journey from Akureyri to Húsavík.
