Start your journey from the center of Ólafsvík. Head south on Aðalstræti towards the intersection with Kaldársveitarvegur. Continue straight along Kaldársveitarvegur, following the road as it curves slightly to the right. After approximately 2.5 kilometers, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork onto the path that leads towards Hellnar. Continue walking for about 3 kilometers until you reach Hellnar village. From Hellnar, you will see Stapafell in the distance. Follow the marked hiking trails towards Stapafell, which will guide you up the mountain.

If you prefer to cycle, rent a bike from a local shop in Ólafsvík. Start from the town center and head south on Aðalstræti towards Kaldársveitarvegur.
