Walking
From the center of Selfoss, head north on Aðalgata street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Þjóðvegur road (Route 1). Cross the road and follow the pedestrian path that leads east. You will pass some residential areas and then enter a more open space. Keep walking straight, and you will see signs pointing towards Esjan. Follow these signs for approximately 30 minutes, and you will arrive at the base of Esjan.

If you have a bicycle, start from the main square in Selfoss and head north on Aðalgata street. Continue on this road until you reach the junction with Þjóðvegur road (Route 1). Turn left onto Þjóðvegur and follow the road as it curves east. After about 2 km, look for bike paths and signs directing you towards Esjan. It should take around 20 minutes to bike there.

To reach Esjan using public transport, go to the local bus station in Selfoss. Take the bus heading towards Reykjavík and ask the driver to let you off at the stop for Esjan. This trip will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you get off, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the starting point of the hiking trails at Esjan.
