From Skaftafell, head east on Route 1 (the Ring Road) for approximately 18 kilometers. You will pass through the scenic landscapes of Vatnajökull National Park. Look for the signs directing you to Hnappavellir, which will be on your right. Once you see the sign, turn onto the unpaved road leading to Hnappavellir. Please note that a 4WD vehicle is recommended for the unpaved sections of the road due to potential rough conditions.

If you're using public transportation, check the schedules for buses heading towards Höfn. You will need to take a bus from Skaftafell to the nearest bus stop that services the Hnappavellir area. The closest stop is approximately 10 kilometers away. Once you arrive at the bus stop, you will need to walk or arrange a taxi to cover the remaining distance to Hnappavellir. Be aware that bus services may be limited, so it's important to plan your trip accordingly.
