From Reykjavík, drive on Route 1 (the Ring Road) towards Selfoss. Continue on Route 1 until you reach the junction with Route 32. Take Route 32 towards Þingvellir National Park. After passing Þingvellir, follow Route 37 towards Laugarvatn, then take Route 35 towards Geysir. After reaching Geysir, switch to Route 1 again and then take Route 36 towards Þingvellir. Continue on Route 36 until you reach Route 550. Follow Route 550 until you reach the junction for the F road leading to Nýidalur. This road may require a 4x4 vehicle due to rough terrain.
