Hiking
From the main Thorsmork campsite, head towards the hiking trail leading to Systrafoss. Follow the signs for 'Systrastapi' which will guide you along the paths through the valley. The trail is well-marked and follows the river for a scenic view. The hike is approximately 1.5 km and will take around 30-45 minutes. Ensure you wear sturdy hiking boots as some parts can be rocky and uneven.
Guided Tour
If you prefer not to hike alone, consider booking a guided tour from Thorsmork. Local operators often provide tours that include Systrafoss, and transportation is included for a fee (typically around ISK 10,000 - 15,000 per person). This can be booked through local tourism websites or at the Thorsmork visitor center.
Car Rental
If you have a rental car, drive to the Thorsmork area, but be aware that regular cars cannot access the F-roads leading to Thorsmork. You will need a 4x4 vehicle.
