If you are traveling by car, start from the main road in Vatnajokull National Park, Route 1 (Ring Road). Head towards the East and take Route 93 towards Egilsstaðir. Continue on Route 93 until you reach Route 1 again. Approximately 23 km before reaching Egilsstaðir, look for a sign indicating Réttarfoss. Turn onto this road (it may be a gravel road) and follow it for about 10 km. As you approach, keep an eye out for parking areas. The GPS coordinates for Réttarfoss are approximately 65.8798° N, 16.4355° W.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Reykjavík to Egilsstaðir, which is the nearest town with bus services. This bus ride can take around 8-10 hours. From Egilsstaðir, you will need to arrange for a taxi or a ride-share service to reach Réttarfoss, as public transport does not reach the waterfall directly. The taxi ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes and may cost around 10,000 ISK. Note that it’s best to book your taxi in advance to ensure availability.
