Car
If you are driving, start from Borgarnes, which is one of the main towns in the Western Region. Head north on Route 1 (the Ring Road) towards Blönduós. After approximately 90 kilometers, take the exit onto Route 74 towards Húnavatnssýsla. Continue for about 30 kilometers until you see the signs for Hvitserkur. Follow the signs and take the gravel road leading to the parking area. The total drive from Borgarnes to Hvitserkur should take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Please note that the gravel road may not be suitable for all vehicles, so make sure your car is equipped for such terrain.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you will need to take a bus from Borgarnes to Blönduós. The bus service may not run frequently, so check the schedule in advance. Once in Blönduós, you will have to arrange for a taxi or a local shuttle to take you to Hvitserkur, as there is no direct bus service to the site. This option may involve additional costs for the taxi ride, which can vary based on distance and time.
