    If you are driving, start from the town of Borgarnes, which is approximately 70 km away from Vatnshellir Cave. Take Route 1 (the Ring Road) south and then turn onto Route 54 toward Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Follow Route 54 until you reach the junction for Route 574. Turn onto Route 574, which will lead you directly to Snæfellsjökull National Park. The cave is well-signposted once you enter the park. Please note, there is a parking fee of around ISK 1,000 to 2,000 at the entrance of the park, depending on the season.

    To reach Vatnshellir Cave using public transport, take a bus from Reykjavik to Snæfellsbær. Bus services like Strætó operate routes to this area. Make sure to check the schedule, as services may be limited, especially during the off-peak season. Once you arrive in Snæfellsbær, you can take a taxi or potentially arrange a shuttle to reach the cave entrance. It is advisable to book the taxi in advance, as they may not be readily available. The total cost for the bus ride from Reykjavik is around ISK 3,000 to 4,000 one way.
