Getting There

• Car

  If you're starting from Ísafjörður, head southeast on Route 61 towards Hólmavík. Continue on Route 61 until you reach the junction with Route 62. Take Route 62 towards Reykhólar. After approximately 30 km, turn onto Karlseyjarvegur. The Reykhólar HI Hostel will be located on your left at Karlseyjarvegur, 380 Reykhólar. The total drive is about 1.5 hours.

• Public Transportation

  From Ísafjörður, take a bus to Hólmavík. Check the bus schedule for departures as they can vary. Once you arrive in Hólmavík, you can either take a taxi or check for local bus services to Reykhólar. If taking a taxi, it is approximately a 30-minute ride to Reykhólar HI Hostel at Karlseyjarvegur, 380 Reykhólar. Be prepared for taxi fares to be around 10,000 ISK (Icelandic Krona) depending on the time of day.

• Car

  For those coming from Patreksfjörður, take Route 60 towards Bíldudalur. Continue on Route 60 until it meets Route 61. Turn onto Route 61 heading towards Hólmavík. After about 50 km, turn onto Route 62 which leads to Reykhólar. Finally, follow Karlseyjarvegur to reach the hostel located at 380 Reykhólar. This route will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

• Public Transportation

  From Patreksfjörður, take a bus towards Bíldudalur. Once at Bíldudalur, you will need to transfer to a bus that goes to Hólmavík. After arriving in Hólmavík, you can take a taxi to Reykhólar. The taxi ride will take approximately 30 minutes to reach the hostel. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently.
