Car
If you are driving from the town of Ísafjörður, head southeast on Route 61. Continue for approximately 70 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 63. Turn left onto Route 63 and follow it for about 35 kilometers. You will then need to turn right onto Route 615, which will lead you directly to Reykjarfjörður. The journey will take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on road conditions. Be prepared for some narrow and winding roads as you approach the fjord.
Public Transportation
To reach Reykjarfjörður by public transportation, you can take a bus from Ísafjörður. Check the schedules of Strætó, the Icelandic public bus service. Take bus number 60 from Ísafjörður towards Flateyri. Once you arrive at Flateyri, transfer to bus number 61, which will take you towards Reykjarfjörður. Note that bus schedules may be limited, so plan accordingly. The total travel time may take around 3 to 4 hours, including waiting times for transfers.
Taxi or Rideshare
If you prefer a more direct route and convenience, consider taking a taxi or rideshare service from nearby towns such as Ísafjörður or Flateyri. This option can be more expensive, typically costing around 15,000 to 20,000 ISK (Icelandic Krona) from Ísafjörður to Reykjarfjörður.
