Getting There

• Car

  If you are already in City of Rocks National Reserve, the Visitor Center is approximately 5 miles from the main park area. Start by heading south on the main road within the park, following the signs for the Visitor Center. After about 3 miles, you will reach a junction. Take a left at the junction, continuing on S Elba Almo Rd. The Visitor Center is located on your right at 3035 S Elba Almo Rd, Almo, ID 83312. Look for the large sign indicating the Visitor Center. There is no entry fee for the Visitor Center, but be sure to check for any parking fees or requirements at the nearby campgrounds if you plan to stay.

• Public Transportation

  There are limited public transportation options in the area. If you are relying on public transport, your best option is to take a bus to the nearest town, which is Almo, ID. From Almo, you will need to arrange for a taxi or a rideshare service to reach the Visitor Center. The distance from Almo to the Visitor Center is about 3 miles. Please confirm the availability of taxi services in advance, as they may not be readily available. Be aware that costs for rideshares or taxis can vary, so expect to pay around $10-$20 for the trip.

• Bicycle

  For adventurous travelers, biking to the Visitor Center is an option. If you are staying within the City of Rocks area, you can rent a bike and head south on the main park road. The route is approximately 5 miles and is mostly flat, making it suitable for cyclists of all levels. Remember to wear a helmet and bring water, especially during warmer months, as there are limited facilities along the route.
