From Payette Lake, head northeast on ID-55 N toward McCall. Continue on ID-55 N for approximately 5 miles. Then, turn left onto E Lake Street and follow it until it merges with Brundage Mountain Road. Continue on Old Brundage Mountain Rd for about 3 miles until you reach the Bear Basin Trailhead, which will be on your right. The trailhead is well marked and has a parking area.
