Getting There

  • Car

    From the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, head southeast on ID-75 S. After approximately 10 miles, turn left onto ID-21 S toward Boise. Continue for about 25 miles until you reach the junction with I-84. Merge onto I-84 E and travel for about 50 miles. Take exit 216 for US-93 S toward Twin Falls. Continue on US-93 S for about 70 miles until you reach the junction with ID-77 N. Turn left onto ID-77 N and follow it for about 20 miles. Finally, turn left onto City of Rocks Road and continue until you reach the entrance to City of Rocks National Reserve. Note: There is a small entrance fee for the reserve, so be prepared for that.

  • Public Transportation + Car

    If you are using public transportation, take a Greyhound or the Idaho Shuttle from Sawtooth to the nearest town, which is Burley. From Burley, you will need to rent a car or use a local taxi service. Once you have a car, follow the directions from Burley: head south on ID-27 S and then merge onto I-84 E. Continue as described above towards City of Rocks National Reserve. Make sure to check for local taxi services or rideshare options as public transport is limited in this area.
