Once on the train, it will take approximately 40 minutes to reach the Chicago Union Station. Upon arrival, exit the train station and head towards Canal Street. From Canal Street, walk two blocks east to State Street. Turn left on State Street and walk north for about 0.5 miles until you reach 17 N State St, where the Muddy Waters Mural is located.

If you prefer to bicycle from Arlington Heights to Chicago, you can start at the Arlington Heights Village Hall, located at 33 S Arlington Heights Rd. Take Arlington Heights Rd south until you reach the intersection with Northwest Hwy (Route 14). Head east on Northwest Hwy until you reach the intersection with State St. Turn south on State St and follow it until you reach 17 N State St. The ride is approximately 30 miles and may take around 2 hours depending on your cycling speed.

Walking from Arlington Heights to the Muddy Waters Mural in Chicago is quite a long journey and not typically recommended, but if you choose to do so, you can start at the Arlington Heights Public Library at 500 N Dunton Ave. Head south on Dunton Ave until you reach Northwest Hwy (Route 14), then turn right and walk along Northwest Hwy until you reach State St. From there, head south on State St for about 1.5 miles until you reach 17 N State St. This walk will cover a distance of about 35 miles and could take 10-12 hours, so be sure to plan accordingly.
