Getting There

• Public Transit - CTA Train

  From anywhere in Chicago, locate the nearest Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train station. If you are near a Red Line station, board a train heading towards 95th/Dan Ryan. Ride until you reach the State/Lake station. Exit the train and head towards the stairs to ground level. Once you are on the street level, walk east towards State St. Turn left (north) on State St and continue walking until you reach the intersection of State St and E Madison St. The Center of Chicago's Grid is located at this intersection.

• Public Transit - CTA Bus

  Find a CTA bus stop near your location. Look for bus routes that stop at or near the Chicago Loop area. For example, you can take the #1 or #60 bus, which travels along State St. Board the bus and inform the driver you want to get off at Madison St. Once you disembark, walk east towards State St, then turn left (north) and walk until you reach the intersection of State St and E Madison St. The Center of Chicago's Grid is located at this intersection.

• Walking Directions

  If you are already in the Chicago Loop area, simply navigate to the intersection of State St and E Madison St. Use a map or a navigation app to guide you directly to this location. As you approach the intersection, look for the distinctive landmarks and signage that indicate you are at the Center of Chicago's Grid.

• Bicycle Rental

  If you prefer cycling, look for a Divvy bike station nearby where you can rent a bike. Once you have a bike, head towards the Loop area. You can take a route along the Riverwalk or use bike lanes to reach the intersection of State St and E Madison St. Follow the bicycle lanes and signage to ensure a safe journey. When you reach the intersection, lock your bike at a nearby bike rack.
