From Corn Belt, Illinois, take IL-127 South towards Carbondale. Continue on IL-127 until you reach the junction with IL-13. Merge onto IL-13 East and follow it until you reach IL-146. Turn left onto IL-146 East and continue for approximately 20 miles. You will pass through the town of Makanda. After Makanda, turn right onto IL-34 South and follow it until you reach the entrance of Shawnee National Forest. The official address is Herod, IL 62946. Ensure you have fuel and check for any tolls or fees along your route.
