From Corn Belt, Illinois, take IL-127 South towards Carbondale. Continue on IL-127 until you reach the junction with IL-13. Merge onto IL-13 East and follow it until you reach IL-146. Turn left onto IL-146 East and continue for approximately 20 miles. You will pass through the town of Makanda. After Makanda, turn right onto IL-34 South and follow it until you reach the entrance of Shawnee National Forest. The official address is Herod, IL 62946.
