    Lyon Farm is located east of Yorkville on Illinois Route 71, between Yorkville and Oswego. From Yorkville, head east on IL-71. The farm is a short drive from the center of town. Look for highway signs directing visitors to the site. Parking is available on-site during events. Note that IL-71 can experience moderate traffic during peak event times.

    Kendall Area Transit (KAT) provides public transportation in Kendall County. KAT is a general public transportation service with priority for the disabled and seniors. To use KAT, you must register and schedule a ride in advance. Contact KAT at 1-877-IGO-4KAT to register and schedule a ride. A one-way fare is approximately $3, with a discount for seniors. Bus services are available 6:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (except holidays).

Lyon Farm, the crown jewel of the Kendall County Historical Society, offers a captivating glimpse into 19th-century life in Kendall County, Illinois. Located east of Yorkville on Illinois Route 71, the farm features a collection of historic buildings relocated to the site, creating a turn-of-the-century village. Visitors can explore a variety of structures, including the Oswego House, a two-story frame house, the Union School from NaAuSay Township, and the Corrigan Brothers General Store and Post Office from Plattville. Other notable buildings include the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Depot from Plano, the old Yorkville City Hall, and a working blacksmith shop. The farm also features a library, housed in the Herman Hanouw Museum building, containing archive records such as census lists, tax assessment lists, head of household lists, birth, death and marriage records, and cemetery records, some dating to 1840. Lyon Farm is open to the public during special events, such as the annual Fall Festival and Christmas at the Farm. These events feature family-friendly activities, demonstrations, and exhibits that bring local history to life. The Fall Festival includes antique farm equipment displays, craft vendors, hayrides, and live entertainment. Visits to the farm and village can also be scheduled by appointment only.
