Getting There

• Walking

  If you are already within Ferne Clyffe State Park, begin your journey to the Panoramic View by walking towards the main park road. From the park's visitor center, head southwest on Ferne Clyffe Road until you reach IL-37. Turn left onto IL-37 and continue walking for approximately 1 mile. You will see the Panoramic View sign on your right. The walk is scenic and should take about 20-30 minutes.

• Driving

  For those with access to a vehicle, start from the Ferne Clyffe State Park entrance. Take Ferne Clyffe Road and turn right onto IL-37. Drive north for about 1 mile to reach the Panoramic View located at 3790 IL-37, Buncombe, IL 62912. There is ample parking available near the viewing area. The drive should take approximately 5-10 minutes.

• Public Transportation

  If you are relying on public transportation, note that options are limited in this rural area. You would need to take a bus or shuttle from the nearest major town (Carbondale, IL) to Buncombe. From Carbondale, use a local bus service to reach Buncombe. Once in Buncombe, you can either walk or arrange for a taxi to take you to the Panoramic View at 3790 IL-37.
