Turn right onto Cheatham Hill Drive SW. The monument is at the end of the road. Parking is available at the Cheatham Hill Dr./Illinois Monument Parking lot. Parking is free. The parking lot is open from 8 AM to 7:30 PM (Daylight Savings Time) and 8 AM to 5:30 PM (Standard Time).

Dedicated on June 27, 1914, the monument marks the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. It is strategically positioned on Cheatham Hill, the location where the Union assault reached its peak. The monument's architecture reflects the solemnity of its purpose. The 25-foot-high structure is made of Georgia white marble and features an American eagle atop the monument, flanked by life-size figures of a Union soldier and two Grecian women representing “peace” and either “victory” or the State of Illinois.
