Getting There

  • Public Transit

    If you are in Oak Lawn, start by walking to the nearest Metra train station, which is the Oak Lawn station. Once there, board the Metra train on the SouthWest Service line heading towards Chicago Union Station. After approximately 30 minutes, you will arrive at the Union Station stop. From Union Station, exit the train and head to the nearby 'State/Lake' L station (you can follow the signs for the 'L'). Take the 'Brown Line' or 'Pink Line' train to the 'Harold Washington Library' stop. At this stop, transfer to the 'Red Line' and continue to 'Cermak-Chinatown' station. Finally, transfer to the 'Green Line' and get off at the '35th/Bronzeville-IIT' stop. From there, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the Adler Planetarium, located at 1300 S Lake Shore Dr.

  • Walking

    If you are close to the Oak Lawn Village Hall, start your walk towards the Oak Lawn Metra station. From the Village Hall, head west on 95th St until you reach the station. After reaching the station, follow the public transit instructions above for the Metra train to get to Chicago and then walk to the Adler Planetarium.

  • Bus

    You can take the Pace Bus route 349 from Oak Lawn. Board the bus at any stop along the route that is closest to you. Ensure that you are headed towards the 'Cicero' stop. After reaching Cicero, transfer to the CTA bus #62 towards the 'California' station. Ride to the 'Pulaski' station where you can then board the Pink Line train towards the '18th' stop. From 18th, transfer to the Green Line towards 'Harlem' and disembark at the '35th/Bronzeville-IIT' stop. Walk about 15 minutes to the Adler Planetarium.
