Getting There

Bus
From the Palatine Metra station, board the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line train towards Chicago. This train will take you to the Ogilvie Transportation Center in downtown Chicago. Once you arrive at Ogilvie, exit the train station and walk to the nearby bus stop at Washington & Canal (which is about a 5-minute walk). Catch the #146 bus towards Museum Campus and stay on for about 15 stops (approximately 25-30 minutes). Get off at the stop 'Adler Planetarium' located at 1300 S Lake Shore Dr. The planetarium will be directly in front of you.

Train and Walk

From Union Station, walk towards the Canal Street Exit and continue to the Canal Street bus stop. Catch the #146 bus towards Museum Campus and ride for about 15 stops (approximately 25-30 minutes). If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the Divvy stations near Palatine. Start by biking south on Dundee Road (IL-68) until you reach the intersection with Elmhurst Road (IL-83). Continue south on Elmhurst Road until you reach the busier roads leading into downtown Chicago. Follow the bike lanes or paths towards Lake Shore Drive. Once you reach Lake Shore Drive, head south along the lakeshore until you arrive at the Adler Planetarium at 1300 S Lake Shore Dr. This route is approximately 35-40 miles and may take around 2-3 hours depending on your biking speed.
