To reach the City Gallery in the Historic Water Tower at 806 Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL from Palatine, first make your way to the Palatine Train Station located at 137 W Wood St, Palatine, IL 60067. From there, board a Metra train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line heading towards Chicago. The ride will take approximately 45 minutes. Disembark at the Ogilvie Transportation Center in downtown Chicago. Once you exit the train, follow the signs to the 'Union Station' subway station and take the 'Brown Line' towards Kimball. After 3 stops, get off at the Washington/Wells station. From there, transfer to the 'Red Line' train and head towards Howard. After 3 stops, disembark at the Chicago station. Exit the station onto State Street and walk east towards Michigan Ave. Turn left on Michigan Ave and walk north for about 0.5 miles until you reach the City Gallery, located inside the Historic Water Tower.

Take the PACE bus route 696 or 695 towards the Arlington Heights Metra train station. Once you arrive at Arlington Heights, transfer to the Metra train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line heading towards Chicago. After about a 45-minute train ride, get off at the Ogilvie Transportation Center. From there, walk to the 'Union Station' subway station and take the 'Brown Line' towards Kimball.
