Public Transit
From Palatine, walk to the nearest Metra station, which is the Palatine Station located at 137 W Wood St. Board a train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line towards Chicago. Stay on the train for about 30 minutes and get off at the Evanston Central Street Station. Exit the station and walk north on Central St for about 0.5 miles until you reach Clark St. Turn left on Clark St and walk about 0.3 miles to arrive at Northwestern University located at 633 Clark St.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike in Palatine and head east on E Dundee Rd. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with N Quentin Rd, where you will turn left. Follow N Quentin Rd, which turns into W Dempster St. After about 5 miles, turn right onto N McCormick Blvd. Follow McCormick for about 1 mile until you reach Clark St, then turn left. Continue on Clark St for about 0.2 miles to Northwestern University at 633 Clark St.
Walking
For a walking journey, start from downtown Palatine and head northeast on N Smith St towards E Dundee Rd. Turn left at E Dundee Rd and follow it until you reach the Metra train station. From there, take the Metra train to Evanston as described above. Alternatively, if you want to walk directly, it will take approximately 2 hours to walk the entire distance, so consider using public transit for convenience.
