Getting There

Public Bus
From the Palatine Metra Station, board the Metra train on the Northwest Line towards Chicago Union Station. Ride to the Chicago Union Station. Once there, transfer to the CTA 'L' train by following the signs to the 'Pink Line' or 'Blue Line'. If using the Pink Line, take the train to 18th, and then transfer to the 18 Bus towards 35th/Archer. If using the Blue Line, take it to the UIC-Halsted stop and transfer to the 8 Bus towards the Museum Campus. Both routes will take you to the Museum Campus area, where the Shedd Aquarium is located. The aquarium is a short walk from the bus stop.

Train and Walk
From the Palatine Metra Station, board the train heading towards Chicago Union Station. After arriving at Union Station, exit and walk to the nearest 'L' train station which is located within a short walking distance. Take the 'Blue Line' towards O'Hare and get off at the Clark/Lake station. From there, transfer to the 'Red Line' towards 95th/Dan Ryan, and get off at the State/Lake station. Exit the station and walk east towards the lakefront. Follow signs to the Museum Campus; the Shedd Aquarium will be directly ahead.

Bicycle
If you prefer biking, start from the center of Palatine and head southeast towards the Des Plaines River Trail. Follow the trail towards the south until you reach the trail intersection with the Cook County Forest Preserve paths. Continue south and then west towards the city. Use local bike lanes to navigate into downtown Chicago. Once you reach Museum Campus, you will find bike racks available near the Shedd Aquarium.

If you are staying in a nearby hotel, such as the Marriott or Hilton in downtown Palatine, it is a straightforward walk. Head south on N. Courtland Ave towards E. Dundee Rd. Turn left on E. Dundee Rd and walk until you reach the intersection with N. Smith St. Continue south on Smith St until you reach E. Campbell St. Follow Campbell St all the way to the lakefront area. The Shedd Aquarium will be visible as you approach the Museum Campus.
