Turn left onto Panther Den Road, followed by a left onto Panther Den Lane. The trailhead is at the end of Panther Den Lane. Note that Panther Den Lane is a narrow, gravel road. Parking is available at the trailhead. There are no parking fees.

    From Carbondale, you can take a Greyhound bus to Makanda. From there, arrange a taxi or rideshare service to the Panther Den Wilderness trailhead, approximately 5 miles away. Be prepared for a 1-2 mile hike from the drop-off point to the main hiking trails. Taxi/rideshare costs from Makanda to the trailhead will likely range from $15-$25.
